SIGNPOSTS OF SENIORDOM
by Frank Kaiser
Along life's journey, we're sometimes fortunate enough to hear words put together in ways that seem to resonate with our very soul.

There are phrases that when you hear them, you know they are Truth with a capital T.

Occasionally, these bits of wisdom stick in our aging minds, often long after the ability to find our glasses and remember what we were looking for in the first place.

Here are a few of these gems:

1 We don't have to change friends if we can only understand that friends change.

2 No matter how good a friend is, they are going to hurt us every once in a while. All we must do is learn to forgive. And forget.

3 True friendship continues to grow even over the longest distances. The same can be said for true love.

4 We can do or say something in an instant that will cause us heartache for life. Or joy and satisfaction for a lifetime. It's up to us.

5 Don't know about you, but it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. I guess that's all right.

6 Always leave loved ones with a loving word. And enemies with a bit of understanding. It may be the last time you'll see either of them.

7 We are responsible for what we do. No matter what the circumstances.

8 You either control your anger, attitude, and responses or they will control you.

9 No matter how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades, and there had better be something to take its place, True respect seems to be the key to a lasting relationship.

10 Heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences. We meet heroes daily. Often, a hero is found in your mirror.

Suddenly Trivia: Who said: "A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds?" a) Francis Bacon b) A. A.. Milne c) Walt Whitman

11 Money is a lousy way of keeping score.

12 You and your best friend can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

13 Much to our surprise, people whom we expect to kick us when we are down often are the first to help us get back up.

14 Just because someone doesn't love us the way we want them to doesn't mean they don't love us with all they have.

15 Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences we've had and what we've learned from them than how many birthdays have passed. Amen.

16 It isn't always enough to be forgiven by others, it is necessary to forgive ourselves. Work on this one. It's worth the effort.

17 No matter how badly our heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for our grief. Remember Scarlett O'Hara's, "Tomorrow is another day."

18 Two people can look at the exact same thing and see it totally different. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

19 Even when you think you have nothing to give, when a friend cries out, you will find the strength to help. Always.

20 When in doubt, don't. This may be the Rosetta Stone of human behavioral science.

21 Standing tall sometimes means stooping to help another.

22 There is probably a reason people find you boring.

23 Carrying an umbrella can cause it to rain. Ask the Weather Channel.

24 Think twice, act once. In that order.

25 Take good care of yourself. You are the most important person in your life. If you don't love yourself, how can you love others?

Have a wonderful week. Learn. Enjoy. Love and dance like no one's watching!.
